There are only two reasons why we delve into this topic.
To look our best and to avoid illness and disease.
In either order.
Whether our interest in these stems from a desire to be there for our loved ones, to squeeze the best performance out of our bodies, or simply out of pure vanity, the importance of nutrition cannot be overstated.
What can be overstated, however, is the level of complexity and effort required to achieve a superior health status.
Which is why the motto of No Gimmicks Health is:
“Keep it simple. Do the work.”
So let’s lay the simple and effective nutritional foundation that we can all use to build a better body today.
You do not need an advanced degree to recognize this foundation, nor do you need an advanced income to afford it.
Here it is:
Eat whole foods ONLY
Unfortunately there are many in the health community who get pretty riled up at what they believe to be an overly simplistic notion.
But its simplicity does not make it any less true.
In fact, much of life is comprised of simple solutions that require hard work.
(We won’t get into that here, but think about it on your own and you’ll find it to be stunningly true.)
So before we go further, please allow me to assuage the concerns of all those who believe that simply eating a whole food-based diet does not cover the whole picture.
I agree with you.
Adopting a whole food-based diet is only the foundation for supercharged health.
And that means it is the foundation upon which the rest of your health decisions rest.
For some, depending on their condition, those decisions may include targeted vitamin or mineral supplementation, or specialized therapies.
Many of those who sell supplements and programs are absolutely well-intended with lots and lots to offer.
But regardless, one thing is certain.
Eating whole foods is the necessary first step that makes all other steps make sense
It is virtually impossible to know the extent to which one might need such interventions if a whole food-based diet has not yet been adopted as one’s foundation.
A dietary foundation that removes toxins so you can have a better idea of where your health stands without them.
A dietary foundation that is higher in the most bioavailable nutrients so you can have a better idea of where your health stands with them.
While many supplements can be very beneficial, it is very unlikely to “supplement” one’s way out of a poor diet and it is even more unlikely to know what supplementation is truly needed without first cleaning the toxins out of one’s diet and increasing bioavailable nutrient intake.
And it is the whole food-based diet that gives you the best chance at consuming the most bioavailable vitamins and minerals, a simple act which could by itself resolve many issues.
And it is the whole food-based diet that naturally removes toxic chemicals from your diet, giving your body the ability to relax from working to keep them out of your tissues. Once you do this, your body can focus more on building your better body rather than constantly defending it.
Additionally, many toxins can be stored in fat cells, which protects your body from them. Therefore, less toxic additives being consumed could equate to less excess fat being necessary to keep them at bay.
“Whole food” for thought, I suppose.
A whole foods diet is the unassailable and necessary foundation to build a better body
Such a diet is necessary to allow you to get a clear picture of where your health truly stands, which nutrients might truly require a supplement, and ultimately what treatment modalities might be necessary for you.
If any.
In my case, adopting a whole food-based diet with included coconut oil helped resolve low energy issues along with eczema-like skin conditions in a very short period of time.
Had I not first cleaned up my diet, I may have spent years on expensive treatments to only keep an issue at bay, watching it come back every time I missed a pill or treatment. Instead, it was resolved with cheap and clean foods from my local supermarket.
Does that mean a simple switch to whole foods will eliminate all medical conditions?
Who can say?
But what I do know from lived experience is sometimes you don’t know what ailments could go away with such a simple fix. Perhaps even ailments you are so accustomed to that you don’t even realize you have them, such as low energy.
Now please note that if you do have a medical condition, you must discuss that with your licensed medical practitioner. This article is here to simply provide information regarding a broad-based nutrition lifestyle that is not meant to diagnose or treat any diseases. It is meant to help inspire you to seek a path of better nutrition leading to better general health and wellbeing, not to specifically treat any ailments.
Work with your licensed medical practitioner to find the treatment and whole food-based diet plan that best suits you and your specific needs.
And stay tuned for part two in this series where we build upon this foundation of building your better body. If you want to take your health to the next level, it is a must read.
