Weight Loss Rule #1: Eat!

weight loss rule 1 love thy food(3)

In the coming days, weeks, months, and so on we will get further into the nitty gritty of weight loss.

But before we do, we must set the parameters for success.

Previously I’ve written about the need to switch to a whole foods-based diet as the first step in boosting your health.

But when it comes to health, including weight loss, there is one mental hurdle to overcome before we dive in to a whole foods-based diet.

And that is to stop treating food as an enemy to be restricted and instead as a partner to be embraced and cherished.

Which is why we are not going to be talking about calorie counting.

And that is not because it doesn’t “work”. In a sense it does. But calorie counting always leads to the same place.

Treating food as an enemy rather than a partner.

The reasons we ought to be treating food as our partner are abundantly obvious to see, once we take off the calorie-counting goggles.

Food is our partner that provides the nutrients to build our bodies and heal them.

Food is our partner that provides us with the energy to succeed in our ventures, to love our loved ones, play with our kids, socialize, and create memories.

Food is given to us to bless us, not harm us.

Which is why it is of the utmost importance that we choose to consume actual food, rather than food-like products.

In this upcoming series on weight loss without calorie counting, we are going to look to uncover the secrets behind healthy weight and easy weight management. We are going to discover how we can resolve weight problems by embracing food rather than by finding ways to shun it.

We are going to search the scientific literature to see if we can discover any common threads that might explain why it seems that some people seem to never have an issue with their weight despite never counting calories.

Have you ever been frustrated by that?

I have.

And I, for one, am tired of being on the outside looking in. I want to have that same benefit.

To be able to eat without worrying about how many calories I’ve consumed that day. To be able to enjoy food rather than be stressed out by it.

And I want to help you do the same.

So stay tuned right here as we go down this journey of discovery together, and reclaim our health and confidence in our own bodies!
