Is black seed oil the cure for your weight loss woes?

Top 10 benefits of black seed oil (nigella sativa) that we know of so far!

You may have heard the cliche that black seed oil is the cure for everything but death.

I don’t know if that’s true or not.

But if it is, then I guess that would include weight loss too, right?

Let’s put it to the test.

Black seed oil is a multifaceted health boosting tool

If you have read my earlier article on black seed oil, you know that the scientific literature has found a whole host of ways that black seed oil can improve your health.

And believe it or not, one of those ways is by helping you lose weight.

A meta-analysis published in 2018 found that supplementation with nigella sativa (a fancier term for back seed oil) “exerts a moderate effect on reduction in body weight, BMI and WC.” [1]

So, maybe “a moderate effect” is not the cure-all you were looking for, but it is certainly nothing to sneeze at.

Not when you are trying to find a way to manage your weight properly without the burdensome, shortsighted, and ultimately-ineffective-in-the-long-run tradition of counting calories.

Better health for better weight loss

When it comes to weight loss, it is better to focus on building your health properly and allowing proper weight management to come naturally as a byproduct of those efforts.

Which is where health boosting foods like black seed oil come into play.

Sure, you could count calories every day, maybe drive yourself mad from the constant feelings of restriction and the sapping of your willpower, all to possibly lose a few pounds in the short term while risking the health of your metabolism in the long run, while possibly resulting in gaining all that weight back and then some.

And while that certainly does sound appealing, you can instead focus on your health while incorporating healthy practices that result in proper weight management without you even having to try.

How does black seed oil aid in weight loss?

Further research needs to be done to fully discover the answer to that question, but in the meantime, we can at least speculate based on what we already know.

For starters, black seed oil has been found in research to, among many other things, reduce fasting blood glucose and improve insulin sensitivity, both factors that impact weight gain tremendously (if not being the leading factors in many cases).

It is also possible that, by virtue of the other healing benefits of black seed oil, the reduced “load” on your body of having to deal with all those stressors could be freeing up the body to not only be healthier, but to be metabolically healthier as well.

Again, this is just speculation. But the truth remains:

A healthier body is the best way to reach a healthier weight.

And black seed oil may just be one of the tools to help us get a healthier body.
